Montenegro giving green light to two major solar power projects with investment of EUR 200 million. Generating 219.9 GWh of electricity annually, the projects could help meet the country's renewable energy targets. VAT on solar panels reduced to attract investments.

French energy group TotalEnergies SE and Petronas have signed an agreement to develop a 100-MW solar project in Queensland, Australia. The Pleasant Hills project will reduce emissions of the Gladstone LNG plant, in which both companies are minority shareholders. This marks the first implementation of the strategic collaboration agreement in the APAC region.

EDF Renewables UK has been granted approval from the UK government for its 500 MW solar project in Essex. Construction is projected to begin in 2026, with power to the grid in 2028. Furthermore, research into the potential benefits of large-scale solar on biodiversity and wildlife in the UK will be conducted.

Equinor has launched a 60-MW solar park in Poland's Pomerania province. Spread across 55 ha, Zagorzyca features 110,000 solar panels and is estimated to generate 61 GWh/year. Equinor's Danske Commodities is marketing the solar farm's power to the Polish market. The company is also developing Lipno with expected completion in 2024. Pacific Energy has been awarded a contract to integrate 62MW of clean energy into an existing power system at an Australian gold mine. The hybrid power system will reduce emissions by 50% and feature in-house control systems, BESS, HV Switch Room & PV ring main units. Works start in July 2021, completion in early 2025.

This year, a $2.4 million solar park at the Pieve Emanuele, Italy production facility is set to help decarbonize operations and reduce carbon emissions by 1,450 tons annually. Surplus electricity generated outside the plant will be used by locals. Set to start operating by the end of this year.

Duke Energy Corp has signed a 20-year contract for a 199 MW solar project to generate enough green energy to power 35,000 homes. As part of the Indiana Integrated Resource Plan, Duke Energy is moving towards a cleaner energy future with 2,218 MW of solar, 450 MW of solar-plus-storage, and 6,200 MW of wind power.

Equinor has commissioned its second Polish solar plant, Zagórzyca. Developed and operated by the Polish renewable power producer Wento, the 60MW facility is part of Equinor's 1.6GW solar pipeline and is supported by Danske Commodities' electricity sales. 500 people were involved in the construction of the 55 hectare plant. Equinor's commitment to Poland's energy transition is evident.

Enel X and ADR to deliver a 22MW solar plant to Leonardo da Vinci Airport, Rome, by 2024, accompanied by a 10MWh storage system and covering an area of 340,000 square metres. A key part of ADR’s goal for zero CO2 emissions by 2030. A significant step to mitigate climate change and relaunch the Italian airport sector.

Ilmatar, a Nordic developer, has secured land for a proposed 350MW solar farm in Grums, Sweden. Working with local landowners, the farm will be one of the largest in Sweden, using timber forest damaged by bark beetles. Christian Gustafsson, Ilmatar's CEO, looks to expand renewable energy for Sweden with the project. Anders Bergenheim, a local landowner, is excited about the collaboration.

Alight has signed a PPA with Axfood for the largest solar park in Sweden, unlocking non-recourse project financing. SEB will provide the debt financing to build the 64MW park, which will be operational in 2024 and feature initiatives to promote biodiversity.
