Toshiba Achieves 16.6% Efficiency on Perovskite Solar Module
Aug 28, 2023 02:03 PM ET
- Toshiba achieves 16.6% efficiency for its polymer film-based perovskite solar module, setting a new record. The one-step coating process enables a faster production process and a lightweight panel ideal for difficult installation locations. By 2025, Toshiba plans to make this technology available for mass production.
Toshiba, a leading Japanese electronics giant, has achieved 16.6% efficiency for a 703 cm2 polymer film-based perovskite solar module. This is the highest efficiency achieved by the company so far, as compared to 15.1% reported in September 2021. The device was fabricated using a one-step coating process that encompasses improved ink, film drying processes and customized production equipment. The coating speed is said to reach six meters per minute, meeting mass production requirements. This flexible and lightweight panel is ideal for locations where it is difficult to install conventional crystalline silicon modules. Toshiba plans to commercialize its perovskite technology for mass production by 2025.
