  • Statkraft advances preparations for Peru’s high-altitude Lupi solar project, set more than 4,500 meters above sea level.

Statkraft Peru is moving forward with preparations for its Lupi solar project, a high-altitude installation planned in the Andes at more than 4,500 meters above sea level. Projects at such elevations face unique challenges, including extreme weather, thin air, and difficult logistics, but they also offer exceptional solar irradiance.

The company says engineering work is underway to adapt the plant’s design to the region’s geography. High-altitude conditions often enable stronger solar output, and Statkraft believes the site’s characteristics could result in excellent performance once operational.

The project reflects Peru’s growing interest in large-scale renewable energy and highlights the expanding role of solar in remote regions.
