Soltec announces better energy harvest using 2P on bifacial trackers
- Soltec, a leading solar tracker manufacturer, has announced the results of bifacial PV panel and tracker functionality testing from the BiTEC test centre at Livermore, the state of California, revealing an advantage in using two-module-in-portrait as well as a general gain of 15.7 percent.

The yearlong experiments lasted from September of the last up to September of the current year. The research findings have emphasized that bifacial panels installed on SF7 Bifacial at a two-in-portrait version display a 2.1 percent better gain in comparison with identical PV modules in one-in-portrait version.
As well, two-sided modules showed 15.7 percent more energy harvest when subject to high albedo states (55.6 percent) (in snowy or sandy locations) and 9.6 percent under moderate albedo states (29.5 percent), in comparison with mono-facial PV modules. Besides, the solar tracker maker notes that for locations with a 19.9 percent albedo, 2P SF7 shows a gain of 7.3 percent.
The results of this yearly report were achieved with Jolywood's model JW-D72N-355.
Such field tests are now the main requirement to encourage better data evaluation of the total performance of two-sided photovoltaic modules which may be further utilized for modelling apps for improved profitability.
