- Scatec and Aeolus switch on Tunisia’s first Scatec-built solar plant: 60‑MW Sidi Bouzid hits COD, anchoring a 30‑year PPA as twin Tozeur project targets 2026.
Norwegian renewables developer Scatec and Toyota Tsusho affiliate Aeolus began commercial operations at the 60‑MW Sidi Bouzid solar plant in Tunisia, the first Scatec-developed project to reach COD in the country. The facility is part of the initial 500‑MW tranche under Tunisia’s Concession Regime, competitively tendered in 2024 last year.
The project holds a 30‑year power purchase agreement with utility STEG. Scatec and Aeolus are also building the 60‑MW Tozeur plant, slated for COD in the first half of 2026. Together, two sites will produce 288 GWh annually; Scatec owns 51%, Aeolus 49%, and handles O&M and asset management services.
What PPA tariff, indexation, financing, and curtailment terms govern Scatec’s Tunisian PV assets?
- PPA tariff: Not publicly disclosed for Sidi Bouzid or Tozeur
- Indexation: Not disclosed by the parties
- Financing: Not disclosed; Scatec typically uses non‑recourse project finance with DFI/ECA participation, but lenders for these assets haven’t been announced
- Curtailment: Not disclosed; STEG concession PPAs generally include deemed‑energy compensation for grid‑driven curtailment not caused by the producer, often subject to annual caps and exclusions
