Rubis Photosol Secures €43m for 43MWp Italian Agrivoltaics

Rubis Photosol, a French independent power producer, closed EUR 43 million in debt to build 43 MWp of agrivoltaic plants in Italy’s Lazio region. Its first project finance deal in Italy was arranged with BPCE Energeco and Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies; Crédit Agricole Centre France and LCL acted as hedging banks.

The four projects will span 35 hectares, combining solar with beekeeping, and are expected to produce 61 GWh a year—enough for 12,300 homes. Founded in 2008, Rubis Photosol has 1.2 GWp operating, under construction or ready-to-build, and last year secured EUR 39 million for 46 MW in France.

Who are the offtakers and when will the Lazio agrivoltaics reach COD?

  • Offtakers: Not disclosed; power expected to be sold into Italy’s wholesale market with price risk hedged via fixed‑price instruments arranged with Crédit Agricole Centre France and LCL (no named corporate PPA announced).
  • COD: Not officially announced; based on standard EPC timelines post‑financing, first sites are likely to reach COD in late 2025, with the full 43 MWp portfolio by H1 2026.
