- Pioneer Green offloads 271‑MWdc NZ solar project to Genesis Energy, accelerating domestic renewables growth as the utility targets demand and emissions cuts; developer refocuses investment to new markets.
British renewable-energy developer Pioneer Green Power said Wednesday it has divested a 271‑MWdc utility-scale solar photovoltaic project in New Zealand to Genesis Energy Ltd (NZE:GNE), the country’s power and gas utility. The transaction shifts ownership of one of New Zealand’s larger planned PV parks to a domestic, listed operator.
No financial or location details were provided. The sale advances Genesis’s build-out of renewables as it seeks to meet demand growth and emissions targets, while allowing Pioneer Green to recycle development effort into other markets. The project totals roughly 270 MWp in capacity based on direct-current ratings in total.
