Photon Energy Launches 7.5-MWp Solar Park in Romania

Photon Energy NV has launched a 7.5-MWp solar park, Faget 3, in Romania's Timis County, contributing to its portfolio of renewable energy assets. This facility is the largest within Photon Energy’s independent power producer (IPP) fleet, raising its total operational capacity to 140.3 MWp across 100 projects worldwide. The Faget 3 solar farm, covering 9.1 hectares, features 12,216 bifacial modules and is expected to generate around 11.1 GWh of electricity annually.

Managed by Retele Electrice Banat, the generated power will be sold on the national energy market. Additionally, Photon Energy is progressing with a 3.2-MWp solar park in Calarasi County, set to commence operations by year-end, further enhancing its renewable energy efforts in Romania.

How does Photon Energy’s Faget 3 solar park impact its global renewable energy portfolio?

- Increases Total Capacity: The addition of the Faget 3 solar park boosts Photon Energy’s operational capacity to 140.3 MWp, reflecting a significant expansion of its renewable energy portfolio and enhancing its position in the sector globally.

- Strengthens Presence in Romania: With Faget 3 being the largest facility in their independent power producer fleet, Photon Energy solidifies its foothold in the Romanian renewable energy market, which is becoming increasingly critical for energy diversification in Europe.

- Utilization of Bifacial Modules: The adoption of 12,216 bifacial solar modules not only increases efficiency by harnessing sunlight from both sides but also demonstrates Photon Energy's commitment to employing cutting-edge technologies in solar energy generation.

- Contribution to National Grid: The power produced by Faget 3, estimated at around 11.1 GWh annually, contributes significantly to Romania’s renewable energy supply, helping to meet national and EU renewable energy targets.

- Support for National Energy Transition: By integrating Faget 3 into its portfolio, Photon Energy not only enhances its own financial sustainability but also supports Romania's energy transition towards more sustainable sources amidst a shift away from fossil fuels.

- Future Projects on the Horizon: The upcoming 3.2-MWp solar park in Calarasi showcases Photon Energy's ongoing commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity in Romania and globally. This strategic growth is key to maintaining competitiveness in the renewable sector.

- Promotion of Economic Development: The solar park projects, including Faget 3, potentially stimulate local economies through job creation and investments in infrastructure, promoting economic resilience alongside sustainable energy goals.

- Enhancement of Global Portfolio Diversification: With projects spanning multiple countries, including ongoing initiatives in Romania, Photon Energy's portfolio diversification reduces reliance on any single market or technology, providing a buffer against market volatility.

- Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Photon Energy's developments, such as Faget 3, contribute to the global effort to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to affordable and clean energy.

- Environmental Impact: By harnessing solar energy through Faget 3 and similar projects, Photon Energy actively participates in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change, aligning its operations with global environmental priorities.
