Origis Begins 550 MW Solar-Storage Revolution in Mississippi
- Origis Energy is set to create a solar-plus-storage site in Mississippi, with 150 MW of solar and 50 MW of battery storage. The Golden Triangle II project will generate enough electricity to power 126,000 homes and have an economic benefit of over $145m. Supported by PPAs from TVA, RES and Mitsubishi Power Americas are providing construction and battery storage services.
US renewable platform Origis Energy has begun work on a solar-plus-storage site in Mississippi. The project, called Golden Triangle II, has a total capacity of 150 MW of solar and 50 MW of battery storage. It is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2024 and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 126,000 homes. Two more sites are being built by Origis in the state, providing a total capacity of 550 MW of solar and 150 MW of storage. These projects are being supported by power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Construction services are being provided by RES, and utility-scale battery storage is provided by Mitsubishi Power Americas. The projects are predicted to have an economic benefit of over $145million over their lifespan.
