North Macedonia's biggest solar park begins industrial ops
- The biggest solar energy plant in North Macedonia-- a 17-MW facility in the district of Sveti Nikole-- commenced business operations this week.
Slovenian electricity provider GEN-I revealed on Monday that its group president, Igor Koprivnikar, signed up with North Macedonian prime minister Dimitar Kovacevski and also economic situation minister Kreshnik Bekteshi in Skopje to mark the occasion.
The firm secured the right to develop the plant in 2019 together with a 50-year lease in Azambegovo. There, it installed 31,772 solar modules on 300,000 square metres of land.
The building and construction of the center was settled in September, months prior to the deadline set by the government, GEN-I stated. The solar park is currently able to generate some 25,000 MWh of electrical energy annually, corresponding to the annual usage of greater than 5,500 regional homes.
