- Microsoft and Volt Energy Utility join forces to build a 125 MW solar farm in Ohio, creating jobs and supporting environmental justice and diversity initiatives.
Microsoft and minority-owned solar energy developer Volt Energy Utility have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 125 MW solar farm in Ohio. The Wheatsborough project is expected to be operational in the first half of 2025 and will create over 100 job opportunities during the construction phase. The partnership between Microsoft and Volt aims to support environmental justice, community, and diversity initiatives. A portion of the revenue generated from the PPA will be invested in the Sharing the Power Foundation, and the project will also finance community and conservation grants as well as clean energy workforce development.
