LPKF Laser wins US$ 12m device order from initial CIGS thin film consumer
- LPKF Laser & Electronics has protected its very first laser solar scribing system order from a CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) thin film customer worth around US$ 12.2 million.

LPKF Laser has actually been a longstanding distributor of laser scribing devices to leading CdTe (cadmium telluride) thin film maker, First Solar and also the only thin film supplier in the 'Solar Module Super League" (SMSL).
Goetz M. Bendele, CEO of LPKF Laser & Electronics stated, "I enjoy that the continuing growth of our laser innovation into a set apart remedy for customers who mean to produce thin-film solar modules with CIGS innovation is now settling. Our CIGS service will raise the competition of CIGS thin-film solar modules, and that of our clients."
The devices vendor had a complete order backlog of around US$ 27.4 million at the end of the third quarter of 2020, after obtaining an order worth around US$ 22 million from an existing thin film consumer.
The new order boosts LPKF Laser's order backlog to US$ 34.3 million.
Revenue recognition from some of these orders is expected in the 2nd quarter of 2021 as well as through right into 2022.
