LONGi Sets New Record: 30.1% Efficiency for Tandem Solar Cells
- LONGi Green Energy sets new world record with 30.1% efficiency for silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell at Intersolar Europe 2024, marking a milestone in commercial viability.
LONGi Green Energy Technology has achieved a new world record efficiency of 30.1% for a commercial M6 size wafer-level silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell at the 2024 Intersolar Europe event in Germany. This surpasses their previous record of 28.6% on M4 commercial size wafers in May 2023. The new record was independently certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy in Germany.
Dr. He Bo, R&D Director of LONGi Central R&D Institute, stated that this achievement not only pushes the efficiency limits of silicon-perovskite tandem cell prototypes but also marks a milestone in the commercial viability of this technology. LONGi's R&D team has been working on mass production technology for tandem solar cells since October 2023, overcoming key challenges in just six months.
