JA Solar to Supply 1.2GW for ACWA Uzbekistan
- JA Solar to power ACWA’s 1.2 GW Uzbekistan megaprojects, spotlighting China’s module clout as the country races to scale affordable utility solar and cut fossil reliance.
JA Solar Technology (SHE:002459) will supply 1.2 GW of photovoltaic modules to two majority-owned ACWA Power (TADAWUL:2082) solar projects in Uzbekistan, the companies said. The deal will equip GW-scale parks as Uzbekistan accelerates its build-out of utility-scale renewables to diversify power supply and cut reliance on fossil fuels.
Financial terms and delivery timelines were not disclosed. The agreement underscores Chinese manufacturers’ continued dominance in global module supply and supports ACWA Power’s expanding Central Asia footprint. Uzbekistan has targeted rapid solar capacity additions, making it a key growth market for regional developers and suppliers amid rising demand for affordable, large-scale clean power.
What module technologies and efficiency ratings will JA Solar deliver for Uzbekistan projects?
- N-type TOPCon (DeepBlue 4.0 X) bifacial, double-glass utility-scale modules
- 182 mm wafers in 72/78-cell formats
- Front-side module efficiency: approximately 22.3%–23.0% (model-dependent)
- Bifaciality factor around 80%, boosting rear-side yield
