According to the Greek energy team, the solar (PV) park is the biggest solar farm in operation in the nation and the greatest European complex utilizing bi-facial solar modules.

Constructed at an expense of EUR 130 million (USD 141.7 m), the plant is anticipated to create 350 GWh of electrical energy, which is approximated to be sufficient to cover the consumption of 75,000 homes annually. German renewables developer Juwi, via its subsidiary Juwi Hellas, was in charge of installing more than 500,000 bifacial modules for the project.

Hellenic Petroleum acquired the Kozani project from Juwi in 2020. The German company is the initial developer of the scheme, which was successful in a Greek renewable resource tender kept in April 2019.

Hellenic Petroleum aims to have 1 GW of renewable energy capacity in operation by end-2026 as well as more than 2 GW by 2030. Last month, neighborhood media reported that the firm had clinched an offer to obtain a 303-MW solar project in Florina, Macedonia area, from residential developer FEN SOL.
