Heliene, a Canadian solar panel manufacturer, has announced plans to build a 1-GW solar panel and 1.5-GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Minnesota. The company already has a 700-MW solar panel campus in Mountain Iron, Minnesota, which is set to be upgraded from 150 to 300 MW by October this year. To build the new Minnesota factory, Heliene will invest $145 million and expects it to begin producing modules in 2024 and cells in 2025. The exact location of the factory in Minnesota has yet to be revealed. This is part of a larger effort by Heliene to expand its current manufacturing operations in Ontario, Canada.
