Energie Steiermark & Enery’s 21-MW agri-PV flagship nears finish line in Styria
- Energie Steiermark and Enery are wrapping up a 21-MW agrivoltaic park in Dobl-Zwaring, Styria, set to deliver 25.7 GWh of solar power and enable sheep grazing from 2025.

Austrian utility Energie Steiermark and Vienna-based developer Enery Development have entered the final construction stage at their 21-MW agrivoltaic solar farm in the municipality of Dobl-Zwaring, south-eastern Styria. The partners say all major equipment is now in place, with commissioning tests scheduled over the summer.
Once energised, the installation is expected to produce about 25.7 GWh of electricity per year—enough to meet the needs of roughly 7,400 average Austrian homes—and to avoid around 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
The project spans 20 hectares of farmland where rows of elevated, bifacial modules leave clear ground for sheep grazing and other agricultural use. Total investment is estimated at €13 million, shared equally by the two partners.
When it comes online later in 2025, Dobl-Zwaring will rank as the largest solar park in Styria, supporting Energie Steiermark’s plan to quadruple the province’s solar output by 2030. The utility installed 340 MW of PV capacity in 2024 and has earmarked €600 million for further solar expansion under its current investment programme.
Beyond adding clean power to the local grid, the scheme showcases Austria’s growing interest in agrivoltaics—dual-use solar arrays that can unlock land for both energy and food production while helping farmers diversify income streams.
