EDP Brasil opens up 6.62 MWp of solar farms for McDonald's in Brazil

- Brazilian electric utility EDP Energias do Brasil SA (BVMF: ENBR3) has inaugurated three solar farms totalling 6.62 MWp it constructed for Arcos Dorados, the fast food franchise that runs McDonald's restaurants in Latin America and the Caribbean.

EDP Brasil, which invested BRL 28.3 million (USD 5.3 m/EUR 5.3 m) in the projects, said it installed one array in the state of Sao Paulo, and 2 in Minas Gerais using over 16,200 PV panels placed on solar trackers.
Together, the 3 power plants will certainly generate some 11,726 MWh of electricity each year, serving exclusively 28 McDonald's restaurants as well as seven dessert kiosks. Arcos Dorados will acquire the electricity under a 12-year contract with the utility.
The entire production output from the solar farms will be certified as renewables in accordance with the I-REC Standard, EDP Brasil added.
