China Energy Investment Corp. and its listed unit China Longyuan Power Group Corp. are investing a combined 3 billion yuan ($416 million) in a joint venture to build the Badain Jaran Renewable Energy Project in Gansu province, China. The project will have 11 gigawatts of clean energy capacity, along with backup energy storage and fossil fuel power plants. This project would be one of the largest renewable energy projects in the world, second only to the planned 20-gawatt Jiuquan wind base in Gansu province. The companies are awaiting government approval before beginning construction.
