Amp Powers Up 150MW South Australia Battery

- Amp Energy's groundbreaking agreement with ElectraNet for a 150-MW/300-MWh BESS in South Australia marks the start of the Renewable Energy Hub of South Australia with 636-MW Robertstown, 336-MW Bungama, and 388-MW Yoorndoo Ilga Solar PV projects, 540 MW of batteries, a hydrogen production facility, and an aboriginal cultural heritage agreement. Amp Energy has sealed a connection agreement with ElectraNet for a 150-MW/300-MWh Bungama battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Australia. The facility, to be operational by early 2025, will be part of the Renewable Energy Hub of South Australia consisting of 636-MW Robertstown, 336-MW Bungama and 388-MW Yoorndoo Ilga solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, with up to 540 MW of batteries. It will also include an integrated hydrogen production facility and an aboriginal cultural heritage agreement and benefit sharing arrangement with the Nukunu Wapma Thura Aboriginal Corporation. The estimated total project cost is AUD-2 billion (USD 1.28bn/EUR 1.19bn).
