Airtel plugs in 21-MW solar farm for its data centres in India
- A new 21-MW solar farm established to power data centres of Indian telecommunications business Bharti Airtel Limited (NSE: BHARTIARTL) in the state of Maharashtra has been commissioned, Airtel introduced this week.
The project was the work of Airtel in partnership with Indian independent power manufacturer (IPP) Avaada Energy, as well as involved the installment of some 65,000 photovoltaic panels on an 80-acres-plus (32.4 ha) site in District Bhuldana.
The restricted plant will supply power to Airtel's subsidiary, Nxtra by Airtel, which will certainly utilize it to fulfill consumption needs of its huge and side data centers, and changing centers in Maharashtra, the telecom claimed.
The Bhuldana project becomes part of Airtel's initiatives to progressively reduce its carbon footprint, and also the brand-new solar farm alone is anticipated to lead to a reduction of over 25,500 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
