What is Satellite power system (SPS)?

The technology intended to provide lots of electricity for use on the Earth from one or a few orbiting satellites. A huge array of photovoltaic modules on each satellite generates electricity, which is then converted into microwave energy. The latter is transmitted to a receiving antenna on the Earth, where it is converted back to electricity and delivered to consumers in the same way as any other centrally produced power, through the electrical grid.
