What is Electron hole pair?
When exposed to light of sufficient energy, electrons can be ejected by photons from valence to conduction band. As a result, a positively charged vacancy (the so-called hole) appears in an atom. An electron hole and a free electron form a pair. They have equal, but opposite, electric charges. Recombination of a hole and an electron neutralizes charges and releases energy.
