What is Bypass diode?
Semiconductor device parallel connected to a string of solar cells comprising a PV panel. The diode is meant to protect the photovoltaic device from thermal destruction as a result of reverse power flow. In the event of shading or some damage to a single cell or string of cells, the device redirects the current from the troubled part of the panel and enables the system to operate unaffected.
