Rio Tinto - the world's second-largest miner - is launching the largest solar PV park in Canada's North to provide electricity to its diamond mine in the Northwest Territories. The project will reduce diesel consumption & GHG emissions by 50% by 2030.

Tokyo Gas Co Ltd has switched on a 21.9-MW solar farm in Tochigi prefecture, eastern Japan. This is the first large-scale solar power plant managed by Tokyo Gas that covers an area of 47 hectares and was constructed by Daiwa Energy Co Ltd and Watanabe Sato Co Ltd. Tokyo Gas also plans to invest in 6 GW of renewable energy capacity in Japan and overseas by 2030.
