The corporation grows food in Tirunelveli which it supplies to its employees in Chennai. The company has decided to invest in a 5 megawatts plant to meet its power needs and reduce the amount of carbon emitted in the environment when it uses nonclean energy. 

The Zoho plant will serve the residents of Zoho with green power. This measure will help it get credits to offset their energy consumption needs. The move will help reduce about 7,200 tons of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere annually. Although there are no investment figures mentioned, it is estimated that the cost will be about $3 million. The company’s turnover in 2018 was about $300 million. 

In 2018, Zoho set up a data center in Chennai which employs about 6000 people. Besides, the company has about 10 data center s that supports its 45 + applications across the globe. Recently, the company bought 375 acres to use to build its headquarters in Austin USA. It will also set a solar panel plant on some sections of the land.  The company’s founder Sridhar Vembu is reputed for building an organization that is socially responsible and advocates for the conservation of the environment. The company joins other tech companies such as facebook, Google and Microsoft for advocating and sourcing for green power.  Also, Zoho joins many other firms in India’s Corporate and Industrial market (CI) that advocate for green power. This is a promising and valuable alternative of energy for Indian firms.
