Spanish renewable energy firm Zelestra has begun construction on two solar farms in the Castile-La Mancha region of Spain, with a total capacity of 83 MW. The 50.4-MW Jose Cabrera solar farm is being built in Guadalajara province, while the 33-MW Socovos II site is located in Albacete. These projects were announced alongside a virtual power purchase agreement (vPPA) last week.
The two solar farms are expected to generate approximately 143 GWh of electricity per year. US consumer packaging specialist Graphic Packaging International LLC has already secured 86% of this output under the vPPA with Zelestra. This development marks a significant step towards increasing renewable energy production in Spain.
