Woolworths has agreed to a 100% renewable supply deal with SmartestEnergy. This long-term supply arrangement covers some 450 sites, including Woolworths supermarkets, Big W stores and Primary Connect distribution centers in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The agreement will provide the retail and finance company with enough renewable energy to meet its goal of 100% renewable energy in the two states by 2025. The renewable electricity and renewable certificates will be procured via a portfolio of power purchase agreements (PPAs) developed by SmartestEnergy, covering different generation technologies and locations. The contracts will include the existing PPA with Squadron Energy’s 224-MW Bango wind farm in New South Wales and a PPA with Octopus Investment for power from the 333-MW DC Darlington Point solar complex.
