Wienerberger expands its business with BIPV in UK and Ireland

• Wienerberger UK and Ireland is introducing a new solar roof covering system. The business, which comes from the Austrian brick manufacturer Wienerberger AG, is cooperating with Westech Solar (UK) Ltd of Oxford on this project.

In the "Sandtoft In-Roof" system, the solar modules are installed directly on the roofing battens and also are compatible with all clay as well as concrete tiles, according to the supplier. Wienerberger offers a 15-year product warranty. The system will certainly be offered in the UK as well as Ireland beginning in February.

This is not Wienerberger's first solar item. A year back, the Group head office in Vienna revealed a collaboration with Exasun, a Dutch professional in solar structure assimilation. The company announced at the time that it intended to "further development Wienerberger's advancement into a carrier of totally integrated, energy-efficient systems."
