With an ability of 82.6 MWp, the solar park in Zietlitz is the most significant of all 7 websites in the Balder Project as well as Germany's biggest solar park that is subsidised in line with the German Renewable Energy Act, EEG, Wemag said on Wednesday. The center is located on a gravel pit.

All seven solar parks consist of around 500,000 solar modules that are able to feed some 150,000 MWh of electricity every year into the public grid which will fulfill the needs of around 37,000 families, as well as conserve 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The Balder Project, the largest solar project for the Schwerin-based energy up until now, was financed by Wemag and also the Evangelical Church of Wuerttemberg. The utility has 49 solar (PV) systems that produced 35 million kWh electricity in 2020 and nine wind farms with a consolidated production of 140.4 million kWh as well as three biogas sites creating 11.3 million kWh.
