Voltalia's Uzbekistan Expansion: 550 MW Storage Deals Revealed
- Voltalia SA secures 550 MW of battery storage in Uzbekistan, with plans for a 50-MW system at a new solar park and a 500-MW facility in the works.

French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA has announced deals for 550 MW of battery storage capacity in Uzbekistan, including a 50-MW/100-MWh battery system to be installed at the site of a new 126-MW solar park in the northwestern Khorezm region. The Sarimay solar farm is expected to become operational in the second half of 2025, with financing provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Voltalia has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uzbek government to develop a 500-MW/1,000-MWh battery storage facility, as part of a multi-energy complex with PV, wind, and storage capacity. The company is assessing the potential for a 100-MW wind park in the medium term, following a previous contract for a 500-MW wind-solar-storage hybrid project.
