Renewables investor VH Global Sustainable Energy Opportunities plc (LON:GSEO) has announced a deal to invest in a 248.4-MW European solar and wind portfolio, becoming the largest shareholder in assets across Spain, Portugal, and Sweden. The portfolio includes seven solar and two wind assets, with a mix of operational, construction-ready, and under construction projects. The investment will be carried out in two stages, with the first stage covering the acquisition of five assets and project rights for four ready-to-build solar assets in Spain.
Once all sites are operational by the end of 2025, the portfolio is expected to produce 489,900 MWh of clean electricity per year, enough to power over 100,000 homes annually. GSEO's investment in the first stage of the transaction is estimated at EUR 53 million (USD 57.4m), with the second phase funding the construction of 188.6 MW of ready-to-build solar assets for EUR 45 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Upon completion of the two phases, GSEO will hold a 43.5% stake in the portfolio, with the remaining shares split between the equity co-investor and Spanish Power SL. The investment is part of VH Global's commitment to sustainable energy opportunities and further expands its presence in the European renewables market.
