Verano Energy acquires 116 MWp of solar PMGD projects in Chile
- Latin America-focused renewables programmer Verano Energy announced on Monday that it has actually gotten 15 solar projects with an incorporated capacity of 116 MWp in Chile.
The projects were acquired from multiple regional programmers, Verano Energy said without specifying better.
The sites are located in five regions of Chile. The 15 projects, ranging in capacity from 2.5 MWp to 11 MWp, are being established under Chile's system known as PMGD. The PMGD programme covers projects with an installed capacity of approximately 9 MWn and attached to the distribution grid. Such projects obtain automatic grid access with a no curtailment warranty, transmission toll reductions, and also accessibility to the stabilised prices system.
In March 2022, there were 1,706 MW of PMGD plants mounted within Chile's SEN grid, according to the grid operator's newest monthly report on the market. Solar farms made up 71%, or 1,210 MW, of PMGDs in the SEN service region, with the rest being wind, hydro and also thermal power plants.
Verano Energy likewise establishes PMGDs inside. With the current procurement, the company's overall PMGD portfolio reaches 417 MWp, while its total project pipe in Chile exceeded 1.5-GWp milestone, Verano Energy claimed.
