U.S. senators replicate call for ban on Huawei solar inverters

- A group of ten bipartisan senators such as Marco Rubio (R-FL), Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) sent a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), calling on it to take action to fight the national security threat introduced by Huawei's entrance to the U.S. solar sector.
A few senators who signed the newest letter sent one to Former Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen back in February 2019.
While Huawei declared earlier this year that it planned to exit The U.S. solar marketplace, there are no guarantees, as the letter says. Huawei-produced inverters linked to the U.S. energy grid may make it vulnerable to overseas interference and surveillance, and may possibly give Beijing accessibility to meddle with parts of America's electricity supply.
The Financial Times reported Huawei shut down its U.S. solar inverter operations in June 2019 after facing criticism from the Trump government and Congress.
