U.S. government developments three solar projects sited on 4,700 acres of public land

  • The Dept. of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has begun the general public evaluation process on the draft environmental analysis (EA) for the recommended Arica and Victory Pass solar projects in Riverside County, California. The two projects would certainly entail as much as 465 MW of solar and 400 MW of energy storage space.

The BLM also expects making a draft EA for a 3rd California project-- the 500-MW Oberon solar project-- readily available in the next few days. Information will certainly be offered on BLM's ePlanning web site when the remark duration starts. The 3 projects would be sited on 4,700 acres of public lands.

The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) is focused on 10.8 million acres of public lands in the desert areas of 7 California counties and is a landscape-level plan that enhances renewable energy advancement while preserving one-of-a-kind and useful desert environments and providing outdoor entertainment possibilities. The DRECP is a collective effort in between the BLM, Fish and Wild Animals Solution, California Energy Commission and California Department of Fish and Wild animals.

The Interior Department lately authorized the Southern Bighorn Solar Project and revealed that building and construction started on the Arrow Canyon Solar Project on Tribal lands in Nevada. These two projects will support more than 800 jobs. In May, the Department also approved the Crimson Solar Project in California.

The Interior Department and the BLM will continue to engage with Tribal federal governments, regional neighborhoods, state regulators, industry and other government firms as it examines these projects.
