National Grid has turned the sod on a 160-MW solar park in Henderson and Webster Counties, Kentucky. The Unbridled photovoltaic (PV) park will be constructed by Wanzek Construction and is expected to be operational by 2021. Once complete, the solar farm will be run under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Big Rivers Electric Corporation. National Grid estimates that the project will have a USD-42-million (EUR 38.3m) direct economic impact over the first 20 years of its lifespan, bringing over USD 11 million in tax revenue. The project is part of National Grid's bigger effort in Ohio, where two solar parks with a combined capacity of 167.5 MW are also being developed.
