Toshiba completes 6.4-MW roof PV plant in Japan

- Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) said on Wednesday it has completed, together with partners, a 6.4-MW rooftop solar setup at the Tahara plant of Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co Ltd (TYO:5423) in Aichi prefecture.

The solar (PV) system consists of 21,120 panels, capable of creating sufficient power to fulfill the annual need of 2,000 regular houses. The electrical power created by it will be taken in internal by the Tahara plant.
The project is considered to be one of the biggest self-consumption solar plants in the country. It gains from a subsidy from Japan's Ministry of the Environment.
Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation was in charge of the style, design, purchase and also construction (EPC), while Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corp supplied photovoltaic panels. Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Co Ltd (SMFL) collaborated the whole project.
