Tokyo Gas Lights Up 22MW Solar Plant

- Tokyo Gas Co Ltd has switched on a 21.9-MW solar farm in Tochigi prefecture, eastern Japan. This is the first large-scale solar power plant managed by Tokyo Gas that covers an area of 47 hectares and was constructed by Daiwa Energy Co Ltd and Watanabe Sato Co Ltd. Tokyo Gas also plans to invest in 6 GW of renewable energy capacity in Japan and overseas by 2030.
Tokyo Gas Co Ltd, through its subsidiary Prominet Power Corporation, has switched on a 21.9-MW solar farm in Tochigi prefecture, eastern Japan. The Ichikai Solar Power Plant covers an area of approximately 47 hectares and was constructed by Daiwa Energy Co Ltd and Watanabe Sato Co Ltd. This is the first large-scale solar power plant in the country that Tokyo Gas has managed every step of the process from design to construction. Tokyo Gas plans to control 6 GW of renewable energy capacity in Japan and overseas by 2030 as part of its Compass 2030 management vision. This includes investments in solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and biomass energy.
