Tesla is building the first huge Europe-based fab in Germany
- Elon Musk has announced a factory next to Berlin, which is forecasted to provide about 10,000 new vacancies. Tesla is intended to build the plant in the proximity of new Berlin airport.
Elon Musk posted in social media Tesla’s intention to create the first Europe-based gigawatt-factory close to Berlin.
Tesla’s CEO visited Berlin to receive German Golden Steering Wheel automotive prize for Tesla’s Model 3 car. The latter got the award for best medium-sized car 2019 which witnessed electric and conventional patterns compete jointly first-ever.
The Berliner Morgenpost paper, describing the award ceremony that took place at the premises of Axel Springer company, reported on Tesla intent to create the fourth global gigawatt-factory next to Willy Brandt Airport that was commissioned 8 years ago but is still in the process of construction. Musk’s corporation operates two gigawatt-scale factories in the United States and is currently building a China-based one.
The newspaper announces 6,000 jobs minimum will be available as a consequence of the Tesla project, with additional 4,000 predicted for a following expansion stage.
Musk notes that his company plans to produce Model Y compact SUV in Berlin-based facility as soon as it becomes operational in 2021, along with batteries and powertrains. He doesn’t reveal any financial details of the venture.
