Teesworks Ltd and Energy Optimisation Solutions (EOS) have announced plans to build a 100-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Teesworks industrial zone in the UK. The project, costing GBP 62 million, will be located on a three-acre plot at the Long Acres section of the Teesworks site. The construction of the battery is expected to create over 100 jobs and help offset 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The agreement with EOS is part of Teesworks' efforts to establish itself as a leading center for the transition to Net Zero. Teesworks Ltd is also working on a joint project with NatPower SA to develop a 1,000-MW/4,000-MWh BESS at the industrial complex. The battery storage system is expected to be operational within 12 months.
