TagEnergy has started construction on a 49MW/98MWh standalone energy storage space system near Abernethy, Scotland, following funding from Santander UK.

The Jamesfield growth is a joint venture with Harmony Energy, complying with TagEnergy's procurement of a 60% risk in the project in November 2021. Santander UK is sustaining the green energy campaign with ₤ 12.5 m funding.

Jamesfield will use a system of Tesla Megapack lithium-ion batteries, along with Tesla's Autobidder AI software for real-time trading and also control.

It is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2023, with leading independent renewable resource company RES as asset manager.

Franck Woitiez, TagEnergy chief executive officer, stated commencement of construction of TagEnergy's 3rd battery energy storage facility in the UK enhanced its commitment to driving the shift to a clean energy future.

"This is another vital milestone in TagEnergy's growth in the UK as we leverage our solid storage space experience to sustain the UK grid as well as propel the country to net-zero carbon discharges by linking extra affordable renewable power," Mr Woitiez said.

"We are thrilled to enter this following phase in the project in collaboration with Harmony Energy and also with the support of Santander UK as we expand our UK footprint to accelerate the energy change," he stated.
