SUNOTEC Launches Iberia Division, Targets Growth Across Spain And LatAm
- European EPC SUNOTEC set up “SUNOTEC Iberia” to expand utility-scale solar delivery in Spain, Portugal and selected Latin American markets.

European solar EPC SUNOTEC has launched a dedicated Iberia division to deepen its presence in Spain and Portugal while opening lanes into Latin America—an expansion that chases some of the world’s most active utility-scale solar markets. The company said SUNOTEC Iberia will focus on development support and construction, leveraging its European track record as Iberian grids integrate ever-larger volumes of daytime generation.
Spain’s combination of high irradiation, a seasoned developer base and improving grid access keeps it the continent’s marquee solar stage—though curtailment and connection timing remain watch-outs. A local division can tighten EPC procurement, workforce planning and substation coordination, shaving risk from schedules. The company flagged Latin America as a parallel growth vector, where auctions and corporate PPAs are fueling utility-scale pipelines from Mexico to the Southern Cone.
For asset owners, a diversified bench of bankable EPCs matters as projects scale and standards evolve (think: grid-forming inverters, synthetic inertia, black-start capabilities). For communities, experienced builders with biodiversity and agrivoltaics playbooks can improve outcomes on the ground.
SUNOTEC’s move reflects a broader consolidation of utility-scale PV delivery around experienced, regionally anchored teams—part of the quiet, necessary work of turning tenders and PPAs into commissioning ceremonies. If the unit lands early wins, expect the playbook to extend to storage-heavy hybrids that firm solar into evening hours across Iberia and beyond.
