STMicro Goes Solar: 61 GWh Deal with Centrica

Geneva-based chipmaker STMicroelectronics has signed a deal with Centrica Plc to purchase 61 GWh of solar power annually from a new solar farm in Italy. The electricity will be used to power STMicro's operations in Italy, including manufacturing sites, R&D facilities, and sales and marketing sites. The 10-year power purchase agreement is set to begin in January 2025.
This agreement with Centrica marks STMicro's second power offtake deal in Italy, following a previous agreement for wind power with Italian energy company ERG SpA. The move towards renewable energy sources reflects STMicro's commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.
