Standard Solar purchases 6.2 MW of community solar in Rhode Island
- US firm Standard Solar Inc stated on Tuesday that it has actually acquired a 6.2-MW portfolio of community solar projects in Rhode Island from China's Trina Solar Co Ltd (SHA:688599).
Trina Solar developed the portfolio, which includes two ground-mounted projects-- West Main 1 and also West Main 2. The sites lie in the Rhode Island town of Portsmouth.
Once in operation, the two solar farms will certainly produce around 8.6 GWh each year. Their power output will certainly be subscribed using Rhode Island's Virtual Internet Metering program, Standard Solar claimed.
According to the company, Rhode Island is the state with several of the highest electricity rates in the United States, and they are expected to remain on the rise. The West Main solar farms will certainly enable clients in the National Grid service area to attain savings by offsetting their electricity bills with solar energy, the solar expert added.
