  • Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO, Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico) introduced the "minimal quantities" to be tendered in renewable energy public auctions in the duration 2020-2025.

In 2020, the federal government is planning a renewable energy auction for the appropriation of a minimum of 3,100 MW, of which at the very least 1,000 MW will be for wind energy, 1,000 MW for solar as well as 80 MW for biomass, with the remainder of the power to be auctioned without technical restriction.

Concerning only PV, the country will certainly tender 10 GW until 2025 and also intends to reach an auctioned new capacity of cumulated 2.8 GW in 2021, 4.6 GW in 2022, 6.4 GW in 2023, 8.2 GW in 2024 as well as at the very least 10 GW in 2025. In the same period, tenders for wind power will certainly be cumulated to 8.5 GW.

The calendar will certainly be updated yearly, said Minister Teresa Ribera Rodriguez.
