Soleos Energy and Melci Holdings are set to build a 200-MW solar photovoltaic plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for October 19 in Fipango, Haut-Katanga province. The project, valued at $200 million, will begin construction shortly after the ceremony, aiming for completion by late 2025.

Once operational, the solar park is expected to generate approximately 350 million kWh annually, which will be sold to the national electricity company, Societe Nationale d'Electricite, under a 25-year agreement. Soleos Energy aims to expand its presence in DRC, with plans for up to 1 GW of solar projects in the country.
