- Harnessing solar energy in Sanzhuang, Shandong province, a new 90-megawatt project is reducing CO2 emissions while creating jobs for local farmers and planting honeysuckle. Power up with clean energy!
A 90-megawatt solar power project has gone into operation in Sanzhuang town of Rizhao, Shandong province. The photovoltaic panels are spread over 310 hectares of barren hilly land and can generate enough electricity to replace the use of coal. This will significantly reduce CO2 emissions. Chu Xingtian, a project staff member, has also noted that honeysuckle has been planted on the vacant land, which will increase the income for local farmers.
What Benefits Does the Sanzhuang Solar Project Bring?
- Reduction of CO2 emissions: The photovoltaic panels of the Sanzhuang Solar Project will replace coal as a source of energy, thus reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
- Increase in local income: The photovoltaic panels are spread across 310 hectares of barren hilly land, providing an opportunity for local farmers to plant honeysuckle and increase their income.
- Cleaner air: As a result of the Sanzhuang Solar Project, the air quality within the town of Sanzhuang will be greatly improved, since the primary source of energy will be solar energy, rather than coal.
- Cost savings: The use of solar energy will be more cost-efficient than using coal, which will result in cost savings for the local government.
