Sol Systems has secured a USD 250 million financing deal to support the construction of a 189-MWp solar park project in Southern Illinois. The project is part of a larger 300-MWp solar park development in partnership with Tenaska, with SOLV Energy serving as the EPC contractor. The financing was arranged with Monarch Private Capital, Silicon Valley Bank, National Bank of Canada, ING Bank, National Australia Bank, and Comerica Bank.
The first phase of the solar park will feature US-made solar panels and racking, with the electricity generated being transmitted to the Ameren Muddy-Norris City line. In addition to providing renewable energy, the project aims to support biodiversity by creating a pollinator habitat and planting grass and wildflowers.
