Schroders Greencoat Acquires UK's Largest Solar Portfolio

Schroders Greencoat, the renewables manager of Schroders Capital, will acquire collapsed company Toucan Energy's solar portfolio. The portfolio consists of 53 operating solar farms in the UK with a combined capacity of 513.5 MWp and is valued at around £700m ($891m). Private markets funds managed by Schroders Greencoat, including Greencoat Solar II LP and Greencoat Renewable Income LP, will acquire the majority of the portfolio. Six Local Government Pension Schemes and Tokyo Century are also co-investors in the acquisition. Schroders Greencoat already manages 1.35 GWp of solar farms in the UK.

The deal was the result of a competitive bidding process run by the joint administrators at Interpath Advisory. The transaction is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
