  • Scatec's largest Ukrainian solar plant is now on the free market - with no loan & lower feed-in tariffs. Alina Sviderska, Country Manager, is delighted with the results. To counter low payments from the Guaranteed Buyer, renewable energy companies are selling electricity at market prices.

The Norwegian company Scatec has put its largest solar plant in Ukraine on the free market. This decision was made at the beginning of the summer when the regulatory authorities suspended the feed-in tariff. Alina Sviderska, Scatec Country Manager in Ukraine, is satisfied with the results so far. The plant is not burdened with loans and has the lowest feed-in tariff. Other plants are more complicated as the loan requires a higher feed-in tariff and lenders are still wary of refusing the state-guaranteed buyback of “green” electricity. To combat the low payments from the Guaranteed Buyer, renewable energy generation companies have moved to other balancing groups to sell electricity at market prices.
